It was a great first day of after school programming. Even with some communication challenges regarding our start and the buses, we had 35 kids. Most were kids that came throughout the summer, a few were some that I hadn't seen since the spring, and there was one brand new girl.
Thirty-three may not seem like a lot, we counted at least fourteen who we know will be here tomorrow or later this week. And people have continually asked for more applications.
In the class that Joanna and I mostly work with (2nd & 3rd graders), most kids said that their favorite part of the day was coming to the Club.
But most heart-warming to us was what one boy said, "I'm glad that I get to be here with my best friend Elijah."
