7 Important Books I Read Last Year

Are you looking for something to read in 2011?  Maybe you made a resolution to read more, or you just want to learn and grow.  Here is a list of some of the better books I read in 2010.  Click through and buy one for yourself, or someone you know who could use it.
The Mentor Leader: Secrets to Building People and Teams That Win Consistently
  1. The Mentor Leader (Tony Dungy).  Great book on leadership principles, especially the idea that a leader's goal is to add value to other people's lives.
  2. The Case for the Real Jesus (Lee Strobel).  An apologetics book that helped me think through and wrestle with a few issues.
  3. Till We Have Faces (CS Lewis).  The only fiction work I read last year, this story is a retelling of the myth of Cupid.  Really captivating drama.
  4. 48 Days to the Work You Love (Dan Miller).  I went through it fast, not doing all 48 days of exercises, but I loved the principles about work, giftedness, and passions.  (Thank you, Cristin.)
  5. You Can Change (Tim Chester).  Not a self-help book, but a good mix of theology, principles, and practical application.
  6. What Did You Expect? (Paul Tripp).  Best marriage book I've ever read, so I started going through it a second time.  I need all the help I can get.
  7. What to Say When They Say I'm Jewish (Fenton Ward).  I didn't completely agree with some of his evangelical methods (such as saying it's critical to memorize significant portions of the book), but I did learn a lot from the background material (modern Rabbinic Judaism is very different than Biblical sacrificial Judaism; and modern Judaism flows out of a Greek, man-centered philosophy).

I just noticed that I didn't read any parenting books last year, which is a first for me in a long time.  I guess that will be tops on my list in the next couple of months.

What book(s) did you read last year that you'd like to recommend?

  2. What Did You Expect? is on my list and one of three books I just got in from Amazon, glad to hear it's a good one.

I'm reading Respectable Sins by Jerry Bridges now, but I'm just getting to the meat of the book so don't ask me how it is yet.
